RECOGNIZE. RESPOND. ACT.

March 8 is International Women’s Day — a day when people around the world pause to recognize the progress made in the advancement of women. It is also a time to consider some of the key issues still facing women and their families, such as domestic violence and sexual assault.

For this reason, the Avon Foundation for Women partnered with leaders in the areas of domestic violence and sexual assault to provide the tools and knowledge to help you speak out in your community.

Our goal is to help you recognize the signs of abuse and start conversations to end the silence around domestic violence and sexual assault in your workplaces, schools, homes, and communities; respond to help someone who may be experiencing domestic violence, dating abuse or sexual assault; and take actions to help end the violence.

Recognize the Signs of Abuse

Recognize the Signs of Abuse
Domestic violence is much more than physical abuse. It can include verbal, sexual, mental, and financial abuse. It knows no boundaries: it affects anyone, regardless of income, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity or religion. In fact, 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the U.S. are victims at some point in their lives.
